Heaven on a Stick!

 

I think Yaoi-con was best described when someone said "it was like a family gathering...but with smut."  I have yet to see a convention of people so close, despite the fact that they hardly knew one another.  Each with a common bond that separates them from the "normal" people with which the can identify in one another.

It was like home!

 

For starters....my requisite lesson on yaoi (for the uninformed).

What is yaoi?  Yaoi is actually an acronym for the phrase "yama nashi....imi nashi...." something something something...  ^^*  Ok, I don't remember what it is, but it translates to "no peak, no point, no meaning."  Basically it refers to male/male relationships in anime (the opposite, female/female is called 'yuri').  I don't know what it is, nobody can quite name it, but there's something very attractive about two hot guys all over each other.  An 'x' between two character names designates them as a pair, with the name going first the seme (the one on top, or the one doing the...giving) and the second name the uke (the bottom, or the one...getting it  ^^  ::evil laughter::).  For example, TasukixChichiri would be Tasuki and Chichiri together, with Tasuki sticking it to Chichiri.  ::more laughter::  Yaoi-con is a convention dedicated to male homosexual relations in anime and manga and to bishonen (pretty boys) in general.

Heaven is~

In San Francisco!  ^^  Held at the Golden Gate Holiday Inn in SF, the convention area was...a bit small, but comfortable.  I actually slept this year, in a room!  ^^*  (as opposed to in my car...)  The dealer's room was...bigger than Ani-magic's, hella smaller than AX's (as most everything is..).  Video room was nice sized; plenty of panel rooms.  Because it was small, everything was close together and easy to find.  I approve.  ^_^

What the angels wear~

Three days, three cosplays, two with the same name.  ^_^  My cosplays this time around were Yuki Sohma (Fruits Basket), Omi Tsukiyono (Weiß Kreuz), and Yukito Tsukishiro (Card Captor Sakura).Cutest couple! Touya and Yukito

I'd decided to do Yuki at AX.  We were sitting around, talking about cosplay, and I joked that I should do him so I could do "Yuki and Yuki," as a pun on my Yukito outfit.  ...and it was decided.  ^^  But it turned out really well!  My outfit looked relatively good (even the wig!) and I had a Tohru, Kyo, Hatsuharu (*heart*), and Momiji (the ears! so cute!!) with me.  It was a good group.  ^__^

Omi I didn't decide to do for Y-con until a few weeks before.  I wore it both days last year, and it occurred to me that I really really wanted to do it again this year.  It's become my Yaoi-con tradition cosplay; I will do it every year!  ^__^  (have I mentioned it's also one of my favorite cosplays to do? ^^ )  There were a couple Yohjis and an Aya and a Ken there too, so we were able to get a few cute pics.  ^,^

For Yukito...this was retribution.  I'd worn him at AX, and on that day ended up suffering from a minor depressive spell...I spent most of that day alone.  Now I had a chance to get back for him, with the aide of my To-ya.  ^_^  We made a wonderful pair, playing around and being carried and...spanking and such.  ::laughs::  My only problem with this cosplay is that I look like an uber dork with those glasses on!  ^^*

I was a tad bit disappointed that I couldn't find very much stuff I was interested in in the dealer's room...at first.  ^^
